Yep, it's true.  My parents are getting divorced.

Yesterday, I was happy because I finally got a grade changed.  This was a grade that would have kept me from graduation.  Sherman really didn't help much by saying that I had failed "fair and square", but she did offer some words of encouragement:  "If you flunk out of college like you almost flunked out of high school, I'm going to come up to California and kick your butt."

I've been driving a little more each day, down real roads, but not on the highway.  I definitely know I'm not ready for that.  But I gotta be ready before June 2nd, because that's the day I promised everyone going to Project Celebration that I'd have a car.

Today, my mom found out that some family finances were not being taken care of, because my dad has ultimate control over the financial decisions.  That's a bad thing, since my dad tends to screw up the finances.  My dad had changed some settings on some bank accounts, and basically, it was the last straw for my mom.

My dad had been asking for car insurance papers, other financial documents, this, that and the other thing.  He had hoped my mom would beg to stay married to him, but she called his bluff this morning.  She basically said she wanted a divorce.

She called my grandpa in Albuquerque, my grandma in San Francisco [the one I'll be living with during my college life] and a volunteer coordinator with the Miracle League here in El Paso.  She'll be leaving for Albquerque the weekend following my departure from El Paso.  While she's there, she'll be figuring out some stuff with some of her land that she owns in Taos and selling half of it.  When she returns from her summer stay in Albuquerque, she will return to El Paso, find an apartment and settle down.  My dad will be watching my brothers while she's in Albuquerque and then when she gets back, they will go live with her.

As for me, I'll be living outside of San Francisco with my grandmother.  I'll retain all military benefits until the age of 21 or until I finish college, whichever comes last.  In addition, my grandmother's putting me on her health and dental insurance coverage she gets through Solano County Sherrifs Department.  I'll be applying to UC Davis instead of San Francisco State University, where I'll be taking my main courses.  When it comes time for me to venture into my actual interest--broadcasting, or political sciences, still unsure yet--I'll withdraw from UC Davis and attend either New Mexico State University, University of Texas at El Paso or California State at Sacramento.

So, season finales on TV seem to be plaguing our screens everywhere, gearing up for summer dramas and whatnot.  And I've decided to lay this story of my life to rest with this cliffhanger.  My parents are getting divorced, I'm graduating and leaving for San Francisco, starting a new life...where will the story pick up?

You'll have to find out June 7th at Coast One.  Until then, I'm out.
